On 9th Magh 2018 BS, when King Mahendra was on a visit to Janakpur, Durgananda Jha threw a bomb at the vehicle in which the king was travelling. Durgananda Jha, Arbinda Kumar Thakur and Dalsingh Thapa were arrested. This incident is known as Janakpur Incident.

There was panchayat rule in Nepal from 2017 BS to 2036 BS. This rule was cruel to the general citizen of the nation. No fundamental rights and freedom had been given to the people. So, all the citizen were in the opposition of this rule on 22nd chaitra,2035 BS. TU students organized a huge procession. People came out in the street revolting against the government. Realizing the anarchy, in the state, King Birendra declared referendum in 2036 BS.

The election process through which the citizen of a country are allowed to cast their vote in the national issues other to support or to stand or to stand against it.
In our country, it was held in 2063 BS to choose either multiparty democratic system or reformed panchayat system.
