AI Nepal was established in 1969 by Nutan Thapaliya. It was recognized as 'AI Nepal Section' by the International Executive Committee (IEC) of the AI in 1971. The first president of the organization was Hrishikesh Shah. Later in 1982 AI Nepal was dissolved but some of the AI's local groups established and contained different activities of AI in Nepal.
