Opportunity Fund Program Selection Interview

Did your application get selected for the interview? If so, congratulations dear! You deserved it. If not, don’t worry. It is just a little financial assistance. Hundreds of students apply for USA education without the Opportunity Fund.

Now, there are a few things that you have to be careful about in the interview. You should look like what you have shown you in the application. Your background should not look fancy and rich. It should not have a bookshelf with 100 books or a whiteboard or similar. It can be a plane wall. Just make sure, you are in a quiet environment in a room, formally dressed.

They will cross check with questions on financial details you have provided. Revise about what you have said. If your answers are different, there is a high chance of being caught. So, make sure how you will tackle the questions.

They also want to see potential in you. They select students who have potential of receiving full-ride scholarships because you don’t have money to pay to the university. They want to see that you have researched well about universities, scholarships, and so on.

Also, you should be ready to explain about your achievement, your background and everything that you have mentioned in the essay if they ask.

Now, let’s talk about my interview experience back then. I was rejected. Over the years, here is my inspection of rejection. There are a few things.

I had a fancy whiteboard in my background where I had drawn my projects. That was signing as if I belong to a well-earning family. I had mentioned my father's income to be Rs. 10,000 per month. During the interview, I was asked about my room rent price. I said it was Rs. 8,000. Again, they asked how I managed food and other costs with Rs. 2,000. I then said that I actually didn’t know my father’s salary. What a blunder. Do you see it? I had not researched the universities enough. They asked me what if they reject me. I said that I would still apply. That sign that I had other ways to pay the upfront cost. So, don’t make these silly mistakes and I’m sure you will get in.

Facing rejection after an interview is hard. So, be very careful and prepare enough when you have time. However, looking back, it doesn’t make much difference. Students without Opportunity Fund have also landed in Ivy league colleges. So, you can still make it.
