NHRC is an Independent and autonomous constitutionalbody in Nepal working for the protection and promotionof human rights in Nepal. The motto of NHRC is "Dignity,Equality and Justice for all." The primary responsibility ofNHRC is to protect and promote the human rights ofNepalese people. In order to perform this responsibility,the commission can conduct investigations andinquirieson its own or upon a complaint field to it regarding theviolationof human rights.

AI Nepal was established in 1969 by Nutan Thapaliya.It was recognized as 'AI Nepal Section' by the InternationalExecutive Committee(IEC) of the AI in 1971. The firstpresident of the organization was Hrishikesh Shah. Later in 1982 AI Nepal was dissolved but some ofthe AI's localgroupsestablished and containeddifferentactivities of AI in Nepal.

Any six keyareas of AI are:
-Women's, children's, minoritiesand indigenous rights.
-Ending torture.
-Abolitionof death penalty.
-Rights of refugees.
-Rights of prisoner of conscience.
-Protection of human dignity.

The founder of INSEC were Prakash Kaphley andSushil Pyakurel.

Due to the unfavorable situation to undertake itsfunctions, AI Nepal was dissolved.

Late Hrishikesh Shah was the firstpresident of AI Nepal.

AI Nepal was established in 1969.
