Can water be used as thermometric liquid in a thermometer. Why?

Can water be used as thermometric liquid in a thermometer. Why?

No, water cannot be used as thermometric liquid because :

1. It has got high value of specific heat capacity,so, absorbs more of heat to increase small amount of volume.

2. It doesn't have uniform expansion as it shows the phenomenon of anamolous behavior within temperature range of 0°C to 4°C.

3. It sticks on glass and doesn't give correct reading.

4. It is transparent and can't be easily seen.

5. It's freezing point is 0°C and boiling point is 100°C. So it measures the small range of temperature only.
