Can water be used as thermometric liquid in a thermometer. Why?
No, water cannot be used as thermometric liquid because :
1. It has got high value of specific heat capacity,so, absorbs more of heat to increase small amount of volume.
2. It doesn't have uniform expansion as it shows the phenomenon of anamolous behavior within temperature range of 0C to 4C.
3. It sticks on glass and doesn't give correct reading.
4. It is transparent and can't be easily seen.
5. It's freezing point is 0C and boiling point is 100C. So it measures the small range of temperature...
