Many medicine labels inform the user to store below 86°F. Why?

Medicine labels often recommend storing the medicine at a temperature below 86°F (i.e. 30°C) because higher temperatures can cause the medicine to break down and become less effective. Some medications are more sensitive to temperature changes than others. For example, some medications may be stable at room temperature but become less effective or even expire if they are stored at higher temperatures.
