A student needed to use the ideal gas for a certain experiment. But the ideal gas does not exist.

Suggest what things this student could do to solve his problem.

Assuming that the student wants to perform experiments using gas laws, we can suggest the student to perform the following tasks:

  1. Maintain High Temperature: At this temperature, the kinetic energy of the gas molecules becomes really high which becomes dominant over the existing potential energy of the gas molecules. This approaches the no intermolecular force of attraction between molecules postulate of kinetic theory of gases.
  2. Maintain Low Pressure: With this, the gas molecules are free to continue their random state of motion throughout the gas container. There is very little external force which brings the gas molecules closer to one another. This again is in accordance with our postulate.

However, with these approaches, one can only make real gases behave like a real gas.
