A rescue plane is flying at constant elevation of 1200m with a speed of 430km\hr towards a point directed over a person struggling in water. At what angle of slight should the pilot release a rescue capsule if it is to strike the person?

A rescue plane is flying at constant elevation of 1200m with a speed of 430km\hr towards a point directed over a person struggling in water. At what angle of slight should the pilot release a rescue capsule if it is to strike the person?

Time of flight(T)=√(2H/g)

Range(R)=u*T

R=430*1000/3600*√(2*1200/9.8)

R=1869.21m

Now,

tan(theta)=H/R=0.64

Theta=32.62°
