Ans: Act of arranging the necessary and preserving various documents in systematic and scientific way for obtaining the necessary information easily whenever required.

Qualities of good filing system are explained below:

1.      Simplicity: The good filing must be simple. It should be easily understandable so that every staff could handle it even in the absence of particular staff. The filing system must be easier through which the required letters and documents can be found immediately at the time of necessary

2.      Safety: A good filing system must be able to protect letters and documents from different possible damages like dirt, dust, fire, and other harmful insects. For preservation the confidential documents there should be the provision of lock system in cupboard or the place where they are preserved.

3.      Time saving: The most valuable thing to human beings is time. A good filing system must save the precious time to staff. The required documents and files can be found quickly.

4.      Economy: The filing system must be cheap and affordable by the offices. The expensive filing system increases the expenditure and decrease the profitability of the business.

5.      Completeness: A good filing system must be able to care all the documents which contain important information. It should be able to preserve as well as provide all the documents an information.
