Explain the components of multimedia.

Multimedia has five major components:

  1. Text: Sharing information through texts is always preferred. Texts can be customized and formatted to deliver content and have firm command over the information. In order to write text files, one needs a word-processing software and a computer system.
  2. Graphics: Graphics is a pictorial representation of data an dinformation in a two-dimensional screen. It helps us visualize the ideas leading to a stronger memory. Popular graphics file formats include JPEG, PNG, GIF, etc.
  3. Audio: Audio is a recorded sound file which is useful in delivering information to people with vision disabilities. Audio needs to be recorded, edited/modified and then published. Tools required for recording audio are: computer system, microphone and a software.
  4. Video: Graphics in motion is termed as video. It is a collection of several photographs or frame that are played at once. It is recorded, edited and then published. Some popular video file formats are MP4, WMV, AVI, etc.
  5. Animation: Visual effects on transition between two slides or frames is alled animation. It All cartoons have animated characters, settings and stories. It differs from video in a sense that it has virtual elements.
