How are you? This is the reply to your mail wherein I have mentioned about the political development and its role for democracy in Nepal. I have composed this because you have asked me about it. We know, there is many ups and downs in the last century of the political history of Nepal. Praja prasad was the 1st political party which was established on 20th Jestha, 1993 BS. which had contributed a lot to end the Rana Rule in Nepal for the first time. The role of political parties was the cause for the end of Ranarchy. Democracy was established for the 1st time but it couldn't sustain for long time. Party less panchayat system was established by king Mahendra. Many political incidents took place during the rule of Panchayat. The different political parties worked actively informally which formally ended the Panchayat system in Nepal and re-established the democracy. Though the reformed panchayat system got victory over multi-party system in the referendum in 2036 BS. The mass movt. I could successfully end panchayat system in 2046 BS. The new democratic constitution was promulgated in the year of 2047 BS. which has the provision of more fundamental rights. General election was held in the years of 2048 BS. Nepali congress got majority of seats but the parliament couldn't sustain for its term. There was mid term election in 2057 BS, in which CPNUML got majority of seats. There was ups and down in the formation of govt. Maoist started holding the protest against midterm election and antinational activities. So, they were undergrounded. King Gyanendra started his direct rule from 19th Poush, 2059. The people started to protest against his activities and launched movt. II which ended the direct regime of Gyanendra in 11th Baishak, 2063 BS. Peace talk was held on 5th Mangsir, 2063 BS. They could root out the constitutional monarchy and establish federalism, secularism, inclusiveness. The interim constitution was promulgated by the CAI. The political parties in the co-operation started to look for peace. They brought another constitution in 2072 BS. The election for federal and provincial parliament was held in the different date i.e. 14th Asar and 10th Mangsir of 2074 BS. The entire nation is in the practice of newly brought constitution heading for the election of national assembly. CPN and Maoist align will shape out the govt. due to the majority of seats.
