During a lightning, light and sound are produced simultaneously but we see light before we hear the sound. Why?

It is so because the speed of light (3 x 108 m/s) is much greater than the speed of sound (332 m/s) in a gas. Thus, light reaches immediately and sound reaches later to the earth's surface.
