CSS Profile

Almost all colleges and universities require you to submit either a CSS profile or ISFAA to determine your financial need as an international student. You have to submit it as a part of the financial aid application. The deadline for financial aid application is usually a week after the admission application deadline.

However, many universities have a priority deadline which is earlier than the final deadline. If you submit your application and CSS profile (of ISFAA) by the priority deadline, you will have better chances of receiving scholarships.

The CSS Profile, short for the College Scholarship Service Profile, is an online application created and maintained by the United States-based College Board that allows college students to apply for non-federal financial aid.

Submitting the CSS profile to one university requires you to pay $16 ($25 if first time) unless you ask for a CSS profile fee waiver code. Some universities, like Cornell University, provide a CSS fee waiver code. So look at their website before paying for the submission. It is as simple as googling “university name css profile fee waiver code”.

Remember this! You can submit ISFAA for free. So, I prefer submitting ISFAA to every university that accepts it. Research if your university accepts ISFAA or not. I will talk about ISFAA in the next article.

How to fill the CSS Profile?

Filling in the CSS profile takes time. You have to spend an hour or two on it. You can start filling it here: Home – CSS Profile | College Board. You should sign in and continue.

You can watch this video and complete filling the CSS profile.
