What is the theme of the poem?
The poem's central theme is love's power.
The speaker compares his love to a red rose and melody in the first stanza.
The speaker promises that he will love his beloved until the seas become dry, the rocks melt in the sun and he is alive.
In his promise, he uses hyperbolic imagery such as‘Till a’ the seas gang dry, my dear’ and ‘And the rocks melt wi’ the sun!’. I think he uses such language to show or express his love in a unique way.
In the last stanza, the speaker is about to die and is living his last breath .he tells his beloved that he will be back again and will be together even if they are ten thousand miles away.
The speaker's love for his beloved appears to be pure.He expressed his love and devotion to his beloved even though he was counting his last breath. Even though he knew that now they will be separated but he still told her that he will come back again even if they are ten thousand miles away.
A red , red rose is a poem written by Robert Burns as He was a romantic poet, his poem explains his love towards a girl he saw. That was his love at first sight. He dedicated this poem to her. He talks about separation as they are far from each other and it was a one sided love.
