A construction team is looking at building an exit ramp on the Anthony Henday freeway.
They are concerned that cars should be able to go through the turn without skidding off the road
even if conditions are bad. Determine the minimum radius that can be used for the curve of the
turn if a car traveling 110 km/h might be traveling in conditions that cause a coefficient of static
friction of only 0.60 between the tires and the road.

Here,

Coefficient of statistic friction (c) =0.60

Velocity (v)= 110km/hr =30.5m/s

We know,

F = (mv2 )/r

Or, ma =mv²/r      [F=ma]

Or, a=v²/r              [mass is same]

Or, c×g =v²/r         [acceleration =coefficient of                                      static friction × acceleration                                       due to gravity]

Or, 0.60×10 =(30.5)²/r

Or, r= 155.041 m.

Therefore the minimum radius is 155.041m.
