Usa Education -- Gap Year

Who should take a gap year?

Who should take a gap year?

Just saying in a word, everyone. Everyone must take a gap year between the academics, as of my opinion. With my experience, gap year teaches you about life and society, everything that none of the institution can teach you in 15 years of schooling. Also, if we see the educational system here in Nepal, 15 years of schooling from kindergarten to primary then to lower, secondary and higher secondary courses are completely based on books, only theoretical, no practicals, no research, no practical examples, it's just all about how much you can remember from the course books and marks. But in gap year, if utilized wisely, you can learn a lot of new skills, understand about your own life, country, religion and society, you can learn how to live, what's right and what's wrong. Preferably get some part-time or project based job, try to meet new people, interact, travel and you'll learn a lot. Though I'd no plans for applying abroad, I always preferred staying in Nepal only, I took a gap year, I learnt a lot of new skills, not only Technical. I learnt about business, stocks, shares, marketing, understood the market, demand and supply, politics and literally a lot about life and society. These learnings about society and life matters and helps you alot, I got Nepal Government sponsor my project, learnt business, market and demand-supply and using it currently in start-ups I joined. I learnt about share market and stocks and literally invested in alot of diversified genres, that helped me tackle a financial crisis my family faced recently. Learning about the market and need of people can help you a lot if you're planning for a startup in the future.

And that's why I'd suggest taking a gap year for everyone to have a break from 15 years of bookish knowledge and understand life at it lowest through a part-time job and traveling and exploring in this gap year.
