Enlist various types of works and differentiate clearly between work against friction and work against gravity in two with examples.

Various types of works are:

  1. Work done against friction
  2. Work done against gravity

Work done against friction: When a body is moved in the direction of application of force against friction, then the work done is said to be work done against friction. It is not necessary to raise the height of a body in this condition, the body needs to slide over another surface. Example: pushing or pulling a book on the table, etc.

Work done against gravity: When a body is raised to a certain height against the Earth's gravity, the work done in such condition is said to be work done against gravity. An object must be raised to some height for this type of work. Example: lifting a stone upwards, etc.
