Interview Day: Before the Interview

In this article category, I will describe a general interview day experience. Let’s start with ‘before the interview’.

You would have slept on time yesterday. I’m happy that you have got a good sleep. Good morning! Now, all you have to do is revise your answers once and relax. Prepare to reach the embassy around an hour ago. You can enter the embassy before your scheduled time. Students usually enter before an hour to after half an hour. So, you don’t have to worry. However, I recommend you to enter the embassy before your scheduled time. That shows your punctuality, right? Allocate extra time for everything. Sometimes, you may not catch the bus on time, or miss one. You should not be late as much as possible.

What documents should you take with you?

Below is the list.

  1. Your passport

  2. Your I-20 form signed by you (Also signed by your parents if you are under 18)

  3. Your Visa appointment confirmation

  4. Your +2 transcript

  5. DS-160 confirmation

  6. Sevis fee confirmation

  7. Your 2×2 photo

Put these documents in a clear bag and head towards Maharajganj. Invite your best friend, so that s/he can carry your mobiles and bag outside the embassy. Carry your clear bag and enter the embassy. You will enter, pass a security check and wait for the biometric.

In the biometric process, pass the required documents and let them scan your fingerprints. You may have to pass your 2×2 photo as well. Done! That’s it.

Now you have to wait in line for your turn to reach a visa officer. Your heart-beat will slowly increase. I will tell you what happens further in the next article.
